About Kamarpukur & Jayrambati
Sri Ramakrishna was born in the village of Kamarpukur in 1836; Sarada Devi was born a few kilometres away at Jayrambati in 1853. Both villages have Ramakrishna Math centres with temples on the birth spots, the thatched family homes carefully preserved, and the ponds, mango groves and village temples that appear in the stories of their lives.
