About Khadi Pratisthan, Sodepur

Satish Chandra Dasgupta, a chemist who left Bengal Chemical to follow Gandhi, founded the Khadi Pratisthan at Sodepur in the 1920s to produce khadi and village goods. Gandhi stayed here many times between the 1920s and 1947, held talks with national leaders here and left from here for Noakhali in 1946. The state has carried out restoration of the site as a memorial.
