Purulia

Purulia is the heartland of Purulia Chhau, a martial-arts-based mask dance, part of the Chhau tradition inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2010). The landscape of red earth, rocky hills and palash (flame of the forest) blooms in spring is very different from the delta.
