About Shyamsundar Temple, Khardah
Nityananda settled at Khardah after his marriage, and the house, Kunja Bati, is revered as the place where his son Virabhadra was born. Virabhadra installed the black stone image of Shyamsundar in the sixteenth century; legend says three famous Krishna images of this region were carved from one stone. The present aatchala temple is later. The Ras festival in autumn fills the town.
