A forested hill, an ancient inscription and a dokra village.
About Susunia & Bikna
Susunia is a wooded hill of about 440 metres north of Bankura. On its rock face is an inscription of King Chandravarman, generally dated to the fourth century and counted the oldest rock inscription in Bengal. A spring flows from a stone spout at its foot, and stone carvers work in the village. Near Bankura town, the artisans of Bikna cast dokra figures in brass by the lost-wax method.
