About Tamluk & Mahishadal
Tamluk is the ancient Tamralipta, the port from which ships sailed to Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia two thousand years ago. Its Bargabhima temple is counted among the Shakti Peeths, and a small museum shows finds from the old city. Half an hour away, the Mahishadal Raj estate has two palaces, one with a museum of the family’s collections, an old temple and a Rath Yatra more than two centuries old.
