About Agri-Horticultural Society Gardens

The Agri-Horticultural Society of India was founded in 1820 by the missionary and botanist William Carey. Its garden in Alipore has lawns, conservatories, a rose garden and nurseries where members and visitors buy plants. The annual flower shows in winter fill it with chrysanthemums, dahlias and roses.
