Boral & Tripura Sundari Temple
বোড়াল ত্রিপুরাসুন্দরী মন্দির
The village of Pather Panchali, with an old goddess temple.
About Boral & Tripura Sundari Temple
Boral, just south of Garia, is an old settlement with a temple to Tripura Sundari that draws worshippers from across the southern suburbs. In the early 1950s Satyajit Ray chose Boral’s lanes, ponds and a tumbledown house as the village of his first film, Pather Panchali. A bust of Ray stands in the village. The suburb has grown around it, but a walk still turns up ponds and old temples.
