About Karunamoyee Kali Temple, Tollygunge
Nandadulal Roy Choudhury of the Sabarna family built this temple in 1760 in memory of his young daughter Karuna, on the bank of the Adi Ganga. The navaratna temple with its Shiva shrines has been rebuilt over the years but the black stone image is the original.

A family temple older than the East India Company’s rule in Bengal, a short walk from the metro.
