State Archaeological Museum
রাজ্য প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক সংগ্রহশালা
Also known as Behala Museum.
West Bengal’s own archaeology museum, on Diamond Harbour Road.
About State Archaeological Museum
Set up by the state in the 1960s, the museum shows what has been dug out of Bengal’s own soil: tools from prehistoric sites, terracotta from Chandraketugarh and Tamluk, finds from the Buddhist monasteries of Jagjivanpur and Mughalmari, Pala and Sena sculpture, coins and paintings. Few visitors make the trip to Behala, so the galleries are quiet.
