Annapurna Temple, Chanak

অন্নপূর্ণা মন্দির, চাণক

Dakshineswar’s near-twin, built in 1875 by Rani Rashmoni’s daughter.

About Annapurna Temple, Chanak

Jagadamba Devi, the youngest daughter of Rani Rashmoni and wife of Mathur Mohan Biswas, built this temple to Annapurna on the river between Titagarh and Barrackpore in 1875. It follows the Dakshineswar plan: a navaratna temple, a natmandir, six Shiva temples along the ghat and a lion gate. Sri Ramakrishna attended its consecration. It is run by the family’s trust and is very quiet on most days.
