Rashmoni’s daughter’s temple and Gandhi’s river
The public riverfront of an old garrison town: a temple built like Dakshineswar, a Gandhi museum and the memorial ghat. The cantonment itself is closed to visitors and the trail stays outside it.

- Start at 3 PM to reach Gandhi Ghat for sunset.
- Getting to the start
- Barrackpore station (Sealdah main line), then an auto to the Annapurna temple.
- Rides on the way
- The stops are 1 to 2 km apart: use autos or toto rickshaws between them.
The route
- Annapurna Temple, Chanak A navaratna temple of 1875 on the river, almost a twin of Dakshineswar.
- Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya Gandhi’s life and his time in Bengal. Check that it is open.
- Gandhi Ghat The memorial ghat where his ashes were immersed.
- Mangal Pandey Park A riverside garden remembering the sepoy of 1857.
