- Kalighat metro (Blue Line), then 10 minutes on foot.

- Kalighat Kali Temple One of the Shakti Peeths. No photography inside.
- Kalighat Patuapara The south’s idol-makers’ lane.
- Lake Market Flowers, filter coffee and dosa on Rash Behari Avenue.
- Lake Kalibari A much-loved neighbourhood temple on Southern Avenue.
- Birla Academy of Art & Culture An uncrowded art museum, open in the afternoon.
- Rabindra Sarobar Walk the lake under the rain trees.
- Japanese Buddhist Temple Drums and chanting at dusk on the lake’s southern edge.
- Dakshinapan End among the handloom emporia at Dhakuria.
