Netaji Bhawan

নেতাজি ভবন

The house from which Subhas Chandra Bose made his great escape.

About Netaji Bhawan

This house on Elgin Road was built by Netaji’s father, Janakinath Bose, in 1909. In January 1941, under house arrest, Subhas Chandra Bose slipped out at night and was driven away by his nephew Sisir in the family’s Wanderer car, beginning the journey that took him to Berlin and then to the Indian National Army. The Netaji Research Bureau runs the house as a museum: his bedroom and study are kept as they were, and the car stands in the driveway.
