About Sri Aurobindo Bhavan

Aurobindo Ghose, revolutionary nationalist and later philosopher and yogi, was born in this house on what is now Shakespeare Sarani in 1872. The state gave the house to a trust in his name; it holds a shrine with his relics, a meditation hall, a library and a lawn used for talks and cultural programmes.
