New Market (Hogg Market)
নিউ মার্কেট
Also known as S.S. Hogg Market.
A Victorian market hall of 1874 with a clock tower.
About New Market (Hogg Market)
Opened in 1874 as the city’s first municipal market and named after Sir Stuart Hogg, the red-brick Gothic hall with its clock tower still houses hundreds of shops arranged by trade: fabrics, cheese, meat, flowers, crockery, cakes. Nahoum & Sons, the Jewish bakery founded in 1902, is in the confectioners’ row and is busiest at Christmas.
