About Rail Museum, Howrah

Opened in 2006 beside the station’s new complex, the Eastern Railway’s museum displays steam locomotives, old carriages, signalling equipment and a model of Howrah station. Children can ride a toy train round the grounds. Eastern India’s first train ran from Howrah to Hooghly in August 1854.
