About Hooghly Ferry Crossing

Public ferries have carried office-goers across the Hooghly since long before the bridges. From the jetty at Howrah station boats run to Fairlie Place, Babughat (Chandpal), Armenian Ghat and other landings. The crossing takes ten minutes or so and passes under or beside Howrah Bridge.

Why visit

The best view of the bridge and the river skyline, for the price of a bus ticket.

Best time: Morning or sunset. October to March is the most comfortable time of year.
Time needed: About 30 minutes

Entry: Open to the public with a ticket. A public transport service. Routes, fares and timings are not currently verified: check at the jetty.

Tip

Avoid the office rush (roughly 9 to 11 AM and 5 to 7 PM) if you want deck space.
