Kuthi Ghat

কুঠিঘাট

Baranagar’s old riverside ghat, named for the Dutch factory that stood here.

About Kuthi Ghat

The Dutch East India Company kept a trading station, a kuthi, at Baranagar in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which is how the ghat got its name. Today it is a broad neighbourhood ghat with a ferry jetty, an evening crowd and a view across to Belur. Sri Ramakrishna and the early monks used this stretch of river.
