Marble Palace
মার্বেল প্যালেস
A merchant prince’s mansion crammed with European art.
About Marble Palace
Raja Rajendra Mullick built this neoclassical mansion in 1835, with a Bengali courtyard and thakurdalan behind a pillared European front, and floors laid in many kinds of marble. He filled it with statues, clocks, mirrors, chandeliers and paintings bought from Europe. His descendants still live in part of the house, which is why access is by permit.
