Also known as 16 Bosepara Lane.

The lane house where an Irish woman opened a school for girls in 1898.

About Sister Nivedita’s House

Margaret Noble came to India as a disciple of Swami Vivekananda and took the name Nivedita. In November 1898 she opened a school for girls in this house in Bosepara Lane, with Sarada Devi performing the opening. She lived among her neighbours through the plague, wrote, taught and backed Indian science and art. The house was restored and handed to the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, which keeps it as a small museum of her life.
