The last Nawab of Awadh’s little Lucknow
When Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh, was exiled by the British in 1856 he settled here and recreated Lucknow in miniature, with imambaras, music and kite-flying. He is buried in the Sibtainabad Imambara. Today Metiabruz is a busy tailoring hub. The shipyard and port along the river are closed to the public.
