The student quarter
Built around Jadavpur University, which grew out of the national education movement of 1906, this is a neighbourhood of students, bookshops, cheap food and argument. Many of the surrounding colonies were settled by refugees from East Bengal after Partition.

- The bus stand outside the university is known simply as "8B", after the bus route.

Walk from Jadavpur station to the 8B stand, eat your way along the stalls and climb to the Coffee House.
